LNESC Announces 2007-2008 Scholarship Partners
November 14, 2007
More than 1000 students expected to be awarded
Washington, D.C. - LULAC National Educational Service Centers today announces its LULAC National Scholarship Fund (LNSF) corporate partners for the 2007-2008 program year. Our partners' support will provide students with the financial assistance needed to meet the rising tuition fees at colleges and universities across the country. With these funds, LNESC is able to match locally raised LULAC Council dollars, enabling students to not only attend college, but also achieve their educational goals.
The LULAC National Scholarship Fund is managed and administered by LNESC. This scholarship program recognizes and rewards student achievement in the Hispanic community by awarding more than $600,000 in scholarships each year. The program matches funds raised locally by LULAC councils with those of LNESC's corporate contributors to increase the impact of the scholarships. This year, 68 LULAC councils representing 59 cities in 17 states and the District of Columbia, will participate in the LNSF effort. Over the past 32 years, more than $13 million dollars has been awarded to almost 25,000 students.
"We are pleased to offer the LULAC National Scholarship as it continues to be our signature program. Every year our partners help us grow the number of scholarships we give to deserving youth," said LNESC Chairman Roman Palomares.
The support of our partners has helped LNESC develop the LULAC National Scholarship Fund into a program that allows our communities to empower the students that will be our future leaders. LNESC is proud and fortunate to count on a core group of corporate supporters and foundations who year-in and year-out renew their support of the scholarship fund. The following partners have recommitted themselves to the LNSF for another year: Anheuser Busch, Inc.; Blockbuster, Inc.; The Coca Cola Company; Daimler Chrysler Corporation Fund, Ford Motor Company; Greyhound Lines, Inc; HSBC - NA; Marathon Oil Company; Procter & Gamble Company; and Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. They join branded scholarship sponsors General Electric, General Motors, Krafts Food, and Pepsi Cola Company.
LNESC would also like to welcome new and returning partners. With support dating back more than 20 years, LNESC is proud to renew our partnership with Marriott International, a worldwide operator and franchisor of hotels and related lodging facilities. We also welcome the new participation of DCI Group, L.L.C, a strategic public affairs and global issues management firm based in Washington, DC.
"We look forward to sustaining a long partnership with both Marriott International and DCI Group," said Richard Roybal, LNESC Executive Director. Continuing, "It is only with the help and contributions of all of our partners that we are able to offer the programs we do."
LNESC will be recognizing all of its scholarship partners at the annual LNESC Scholarship Breakfast, during the LULAC National Convention scheduled for July 2008 in Washington, DC. Past sponsors include Blockbuster, Inc; 7-Eleven Corporation; and the United States Army.
