Melissa Kelly
Director

Melissa Kelly has been active in public affairs and media relations all of her professional career. Mrs. Kelly’s background includes time in Congress, state government, and the private sector. Her primary areas of expertise include energy, transportation and crisis communications.

Mrs. Kelly joined DCI after 8 years on Capitol Hill where she served as Deputy Chief of Staff for Rep. Doug Lamborn (R-CO). Prior to that position, Mrs. Kelly served in leadership and communications positions for Representatives John Sweeney (R-NY), Sherwood Boehlert (R-NY), Ron Packard (R-CA) & Bob Schaffer (R-CO).

Between Congressional positions, Mrs. Kelly served as Deputy Press Secretary for Governor George Pataki in his press office and then as Director of the Office of Public Affairs at the New York State Department of Transportation. Additional leadership experience includes campaign work for Bush/Cheney 2000 and several Congressional campaigns.

Mrs. Kelly is a graduate of the University of Southern Colorado. Her professional affiliations include the National Press Club, Public Relations Society of America, Republican Communications Association, Republican Women’s Federal Forum and Women in Government Relations. She resides in northern Virginia with her husband and two children.
