Beneva Schulte is Senior Counselor to the DCI Group. Bringing more than 20 years of experience to the firm, Ms. Schulte successfully develops and manages multi-faceted communications efforts that range from high-profile national earned media campaigns to targeted local media efforts.
Before joining DCI, Ms. Schulte had her own consulting firm and provided communications strategy for a variety of diverse clients, serving as a strategic communications advisor and spokesperson for FM Policy Focus, a coalition of seven associations of financial services companies actively engaged in the mortgage industry whose members included the American Financial Services Association; the Association of Financial Guaranty Insurers; the Consumer Bankers Association; the Consumer Mortgage Coalition; the Financial Services Roundtable; the Mortgage Insurance Companies of America; and the National Home Equity Mortgage Association.
Ms. Schulte was the Chief Deputy Director for the Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission (FCIC), a Commission set up by Congress to determine the causes of the financial crisis. She was also a political editor for National Public Radio’s newest daily news magazine, Tell Me More with Michel Martin and served as Communications Director on the Dodd for President Campaign where she created the communications platform and served as an early senior consultant.
A veteran of Capitol Hill, Schulte served as Chief of Staff to Representative Carolyn McCarthy, (D-NY); as Press Secretary and Floor Assistant to Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro; and Communications Director to Congressmen Norman Y. Mineta, David Minge and Gerry Sikorski.
Schulte received a Master of Arts degree in Public Policy at George Washington University in D.C. and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Florida International University in Miami, Florida. She currently lives in Maryland with her husband, Paul Orzulak and their three daughters. Back to Our People
