Erin Hughes is a Managing Director at DCI Group where she provides communication counsel to clients. She focuses on education, energy, and healthcare.
Prior to joining DCI Group in 2015, Erin was the press secretary and chief spokesperson for the New York City Education Department under former Mayor Michael Bloomberg where she managed daily crisis communications and long-term strategy. She also served as the Director for Media Relations at the New York City Health and Hospitals Corp and Deputy Press Secretary at the New York City Department of Health where she handled crisis communications during the 2009 H1N1 Flu outbreak as well as other healthcare issues.
Prior to that, Erin worked at the U.S. Department of Energy under Secretary Samuel Bodman, where she managed participation of the Secretary and Deputy Secretary in ministerial and bilateral meetings as well as all major speaking engagements to ensure message consistency. She also worked in media operations on the Bush-Cheney reelection campaign.
Erin earned a bachelor’s degree from Colorado State University in communications. She lives in Arlington, Virginia, with her husband, Bill, and their daughters, Olivia and Emma.
