On Sunday, June 7, a team of DCI staff and friends ventured to Reston, Virginia, to participate in and volunteer at the American Diabetes Association’s Northern Virginia Tour de Cure charity ride. The team mentality that DCI Group employees exhibited to rally together and support an important cause is an embodiment of the firm’s culture.
The DCI Group cycling team was comprised of 13 employees who were supported by more than 20 of their colleagues who joined in and managed the check in table, served food, manned the rest stops, and cheered on the riders.
Dan Combs served as the Event Chairman for the Northern Virginia Tour de Cure. Since getting involved with the American Diabetes Association (ADA) in 2012, Dan Combs has personally raised over $10,000 toward its mission: to prevent and cure diabetes and improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes. Notably, this has earned Dan the honor of being named a “Champion to Stop Diabetes,” signifying his inspiring attitude, experience and dedication to the cause.
Dan’s passion for cycling and drive for excellence have truly helped improve the Tour de Cure experience for the thousands of riders who participate, along with many more who support the event and its mission.
Separately from all his efforts fundraising for the event itself as well as supporting the DCI team, Dan was the second highest individual fundraiser.
Sponsorships and donations received on the day of the event will raise the sum total well over $500,000.
After much preparation the riders embarked on the trails, tackling distances ranging from 14 to 108 miles.
