John Nelson joined DCI Group in 2018. He works firm-wide to help clients execute successful issue advocacy campaigns. Specializing in strategic alliances, John leverages his close relationships with think tanks, advocacy organizations, and academic experts to achieve his client’s objectives.
John has extensive experience in coalition development, working in concert with experts from across the ideological spectrum to develop and implement effective engagement strategies. John directs third-party campaigns on a wide range of policy issues including energy, infrastructure, trade, tax, telecommunications, intellectual property, and financial services.
Prior to joining DCI Group, John worked for a DC-based strategic communications and government affairs firm. He also led state engagement at the American Conservative Union, where he collaborated with a host of national and state-based think tanks and advocacy groups. John interned for Congresswoman Renee Ellmers and Congresswoman Diane Black in their Washington, D.C. offices.
John is a native of Eastern North Carolina. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Campbell University. He currently resides in Arlington, Virginia with his wife, Danielle, and cat, Finley.
